Hotel/Travel

Make use of the cards in hotel rooms that inform housekeeping to not change the linens every day.

Bring your own shampoo and other toiletries.

Walk or take public transportation to the meeting when feasible.

Purchase carbon credits to offset travel footprint. (If this isn’t offered by the vendor you use to make your travel plans, visit www.carbonfund.org.)

Handouts/Giveaways

Handing out flash drives with your company's information over paper brochures

Print all physical copies on recycled paper, duplexed whenever possible.

If you give away promotional items, seek materials that are made from recycled materials or can be re-used after the meeting.

Avoid large quantities of collateral. It is recommended that exhibitors collect leads and send product information to interested attendees after the show. This will avoid the throwing away of any left over brochures onsite, and give you the opportunity to ensure your materials aren't tossed by attendees, and sent to them when they are back in their offices.

If promotional brochures are necessary, be sure they are printed on recycled paper. Make sure the paper meets or exceeds EPA standards for recycled paper content (30 percent post-consumer recycled content); limit use of glossy paper. Print on both sides of paper.

Offer water containers rather than water bottles as give-a ways, in conjunction with water stations provided through the venue

Exhibit/Display

Use recycled materials in your booth construction.

Re-use your exhibit booth for each show your exhibit in. Booths that area comprised of components that can be re-worked into different set-up arrangements (so less material ends up in a landfill when its useful life is over.)

Use booth carpet of at least 25% recycled materials

Re-use construction materials. Don't throw so much away after every show.

Once you are done with exhibit booth components, recycling the used parts by donating used carpets, computers, metal, and wood to the community, local schools or charitable institutes

Rent Exhibits and Pop-ups locally rather than shipping to avoid fuel usage and hauling fees

Print marketing materials locally rather than shipping

If you are going to have beverage or snack service from your booth, make sure the serving items are Styrofoam free, and if possible, disposable-free.

If you are sponsoring an event/reception, donate any unused food.

Misc.

Bring an insulated drink container with a lid and fill it up at fountains rather than purchasing bottles of water.

Use the recycling bins that will be placed throughout the exhibit hall.
